Prosperity makes friends, adversity tries them
富貴交友易，患難見真情
If you are rich and successful, you will attract many friends, but if you should suffer hardship or have misfortune, your friends will quickly depart. That's the idea behind this proverb.
The king thought he'd test this so he set out like a beggar to wander in his kingdom. "People treated me wonderfully well," he reported, True, but he forgot to remove his crown!
