Mothe's Day is a day to show honor to mothers. In the United States Mother's Day was originally conceived by social activist Julia Ward Howe in 1870 (she wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation) as a day dedicated to peace. In May 10, 1908, the first Mother's Day was celebrated in West Virginia for a memorial for women. From there, the custom spreaded eventually to 45 states. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother's Day, the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day is varied across countries, e.g., the second Sunday in February is Norwegain Mother's Day, the Queen's birthday (August 12) is the Mother's Day in Thailand.
